ESL Program

This program is intended to provide a world-class language immersion experience for non-native English learners. By integrating theoretical language teaching with classroom interaction and real-life application, it aims to proactively engage the students both in classrooms and in real life to a solid foundation in all four skills of the English language. Level 1

English Foundation

This level aims to provide students with a basic learning of vocabulary and grammar that enable them to learn English language skills for basic everyday life communication. Upon completion, students are able to engage in short conversations using basic English language structures and simple sentence patterns, read short adapted texts and write phrases and short sentences.

Level 2

Pre-intermediate

This level extends students’ English listening, speaking, reading and writing skills for everyday and academic purposes. Students participate in conversations in structured situations on a variety of familiar and new topics, read a variety of texts for English language learners, expand their knowledge of English grammatical structures and sentence patterns, and link English sentences to compose paragraphs.
 

Level 3

Intermediate

This level further enhances students’ skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing for a variety of daily and academic purposes. Students engage in short classroom presentations, read various adapted and original texts in English, and write using more text forms. Students expand their academic vocabulary and learning skills to facilitate their transition into the mainstream school program.

Level 4

Advanced

At this level, students use English with increasing fluency and accuracy in classroom and social settings. They develop presentation, reading and writing skills required for success in academics. Students extend listening and speaking skills through participation in discussions and seminars, study and interpret a wide variety of grade-level texts, write essays, articles and summaries, and respond critically to a variety of prints and media texts.
